MC Nuffy says he beat COVID with natural medicine
Controversial dancehall personality MC Nuffy says he is thankful for life after testing positive for the deadly coronavirus last month.
The entertainer, who lives in New York, told THE STAR that although he was aware of the seriousness of the virus, he did not sufficiently observe the necessary safety precautions.
He said that when the symptoms hit, he felt like he was going to die.
"I contracted the virus in Atlanta after attending a show there. Mi never really did a wear up mi mask and thing, and mi obviously did a go 'round some people. The event was on Saturday the 17th of October and I got to Atlanta on the 16th. Mi never feel sick in no way before mi reach Atlanta ,and so mi sure sure a deh so mi catch it. The Sunday after the event mi start feel sick. I flew back to New York the Monday. Took a test at one of the set-ups at a pharmacy and it came back positive" he said.
MC Nuffy said that he felt like he was blacking out many times, and progressively got weaker.
"Mi start have some severe headaches, mi start lose mi taste and all these things. Now mi up and arite and kicking, but mi feel like mi did a go dead," he said. "It was the most 'awfulest' feeling a person could have. I never know say a so it did terrible."
Quarantine at home
But MC Nuffy said that instead of going to a hospital, he chose to quarantine at home, away from his wife and children, while he sought out 'alternative' medicines.
He said he contacted a herbal doctor in Jamaica called Vagga and believes it was his natural medicines that got him through the worst.
"He's a herbman from De La Vega City in Spanish Town, one of the best. A him send some bottles of natural herbs for me weh get me better," he said. "Vagga send mi eight medicine and outta di eight medicine, three a dem a green juice. Vagga send me a thing name v'irus medicine,' a thing name 'brain tonic', a thing name 'cleanser', a thing name 'zinc'; and from me start take dem, in a three day time me alright. But mi still do the two weeks' quarantine from me kids and mi wife to be safe."
Despite warnings from health officials about using traditional medicines to ward off the virus, MC Nuffy is encouraging Jamaicans to consult 'herbal doctors' more.
"If a never him (Vagga), maybe you wouldn't be talking to Nuffy today. Mi up and good, and mi want the people dem who a suffer from this virus fi seek out dem herbal man deh. Try dem remedy for yourself," he said.
MC Nuffy said he is now more careful especially when going out.
"Mi a take this thing very serious. Mi a wear up mi mask and nah try fi get too close to people. Mi know how this thing go now, and so mi just a go do the right thing," he said. "It's an awful virus. It nuh nice, so unu just do the right thing out deh my people."
