As the curtains closed on 2025, a year that many were only too happy to bid farewell, entertainment industry members, who rang in the New Year at Angola Fest in St Thomas, shared with THE WEEKEND STAR their hopes and aspirations for Jamaica, the music and themselves for the year 2026.

CAPLETON

All positive energy for the New Year... we just need to support the right things, authenticity nuh suppose to leave out of it. We are people who know how to survive, so even when the struggle get rough, we still hold up the faith and do our best. Music is life and music is love. Mi deh yah a do the music and keep the fire burning and represent Jamaica throughout the four corners of the globe with positivity. Nuff respect to the youth them, we just have to curb them and teach them the importance of longevity and of our culture. I'm wishing the people an inspirational New Year filled with blessings, whole heap of health, prosperity... and gwaan big up Jah Bouks and the Angola yutes dem.

TARRUS RILEY

I have one wish every year ... peace and love, health and strength, creativity, more music, more life and more love. It doesn't change. I'm here with my brother, a new artiste, Ranny Rasta City, and I just want to give him a strength this year and give the people more music. Mi have too much music a pile up.

The vision is to see the leaders work more for the people because it's the people who employ the leaders. I am downhearted to see the step that they took with the JPS thing [bill increase]. Mi just hope that the leaders lead. As we see more social media platforms come together we see more followers than leaders, and we see less examples a set. We hope fi di best same way ... but without a prophet, the nation has no vision and a nation without vision perish. Gone are the types of music that prophesy ' I am a peaceful woman, I don't believe in doing wrong' [sings]. Music a di greatest teacher and if we really want to change things, we need to change the way how we project the music on the people. A diaper music a mek right now ... yuh hear it today and it gone inna di dustbin tomorrow.

MC NUFFY

We want to continue mek more money fi 2026. And we want tell di Government seh deal with the people little bit better ... nuh short change dem and lef dem inna di dark. More things can gwaan better if we only do the right thing. We want Angola Fest fi buss fi 2026... we want less killing for 2026. Mr Blake [Commissioner of Police] a you mi rate because yuh mek di crime rate gone down.

JAH BOUKS

I hope that everybody inna Jamaica mek some good money inna 2026. Everybody want money inna dem pocket. As for the music, I want more people to go out there and buy our music, so Jah Bouks music, and others, will be selling more often. And I hope that we can have more Angola Fest. This is the start of something big to come.

EDDY G BOMBA

For the New Year it's all about motivation. I am hoping for more motivation for the youths ... woman, man, boys, ladies ... just motivation. Everything mi been a do is all about motivation.
