Gifted Minds gets computer from Bell/Ziadie proceeds
Clive 'Busy' Campbell, head of the Masters and Celebrities football organisation, presented a computer to the Gifted Minds Basic School in Central Kingston, provided from the proceeds of the Bell/Ziadie football memorial recently held at St George's College.
Campbell admitted that he was pleased they could finally deliver on their promise after a long delay because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"After the pandemic and the setback, getting the school a computer felt good. I thank all the people who make up and support Masters and Celebrities, as it has been good.
"There are other basic schools that we are trying to help too. So, although the attendance at the Bell/Ziadie (memorial match) was not big, we still made it, and Gifted Minds was one school we had on our list for quite a while, and it felt good to see the appreciation from the kids."
Campbell handed over the computer to Principal Karen Dudley, who, along with her staff, was pleased about the committed help.
"The principal and the two teachers said they didn't know it was going to come through because, from last year, we had promised to deliver to them. So, being able to deliver it made me really feel good after such a long time," Campbell said.
He added that the families of the two local football icons, Jackie Bell and Dennis Ziadie, continue to be a great source of encouragement.
"Nick Ziadie, the son of Dennis Ziadie, and Lorna Bell, the widow of Jackie Bell, always appreciate it, and they encourage me to keep doing it, and I will, once I am alive," he stated.
