Children injured after car flips in Bridgeport morning crash
Morning commuters in Bridgeport, Portmore, were left shaken after a two vehicle crash sent one car flipping onto its side and left several children injured.
The collision happened during the busy rush hour in the St Catherine community, drawing a crowd of residents and motorists who stopped to help.
Reports are that two cars collided, and the impact caused one of the vehicles to overturn along the roadway.
Several children who were in the crash sustained injuries. They were assisted at the scene by members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade Emergency Medical Services team, along with concerned bystanders who rushed in before additional responders arrived.
The extent of the children's injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Police were summoned to the scene and have launched an investigation into what led to the crash.
The incident comes as the Island Traffic Authority reports a 30 per cent reduction in road fatalities so far this year when compared to the same period last year. The figures represent 19 fewer deaths on the nation's roads.
Authorities are again urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during peak traffic hours, as investigations into the Bridgeport crash continue.
