Farmer's body found after house fire in St Catherine

A farmer was found dead after a fire destroyed a house in Ewarton, St Catherine, on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Wilson Thimas, of Coghiel Road, Ewarton.

According to reports, at about 4:00 p.m. on July 21, a fire was seen engulfing a dwelling on Coghiel Road, prompting a call to the Jamaica Fire Brigade.

Firefighters responded and brought the blaze under control. However, during cooling-down operations, Thimas' body was discovered inside the burnt-out structure.

The scene was processed and the body removed for a post-mortem examination.

Investigators have not yet determined how Thimas died, and it is unclear whether the house was insured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Jamaica Fire Brigade.
